Get your motorcycle running smoother with the Digi Sync Digital Vacuum Gauge and Carburetor Synchronization Tool, a modern alternative to traditional analog vacuum gauges and manometers.
Designed to synchronize multiple carburetors or throttle bodies, Digi Sync provides simultaneous digital vacuum readings so you can see exactly how closely each cylinder is balanced. It can be used on compatible carbureted and fuel-injected motorcycles with multiple throttle bodies and accessible vacuum ports.
Why Carburetor and Throttle Body Synchronization Matters
As a motorcycle accumulates miles, throttle cables can stretch and throttle components can move slightly out of adjustment. When multiple carburetors or throttle bodies are no longer working together evenly, the motorcycle may experience increased vibration, uneven idle, hesitation, reduced throttle response or decreased efficiency.
Synchronization allows you to compare the intake vacuum produced by each cylinder and adjust the system so the readings are as closely matched as the motorcycle allows. Digi Sync recommends matching the readings at the RPM specified by the motorcycle's service procedure.
A properly synchronized motorcycle can provide:
- Smoother engine operation and reduced vibration
- More consistent idle
- Improved throttle response
- Better balance between cylinders
- Easier diagnosis of vacuum-related performance issues
- More accurate DIY motorcycle maintenance
Digital Precision Without Bouncing Needles
Traditional motorcycle synchronization tools typically use mechanical vacuum gauges or liquid-column manometers. While they can perform the job, engine vacuum naturally pulses with every intake stroke, which can cause analog needles or fluid columns to fluctuate and require the user to interpret an average reading.
Digi Sync takes a different approach.
Its digital system analyzes the engine's vacuum pulses and uses proprietary processing to focus on the relevant intake-stroke data. The result is a stable digital reading that is easier to compare from cylinder to cylinder. Digi Sync also calculates engine RPM from the vacuum signal on four-stroke engines.
Digi Sync vs. Analog Carb Sync Tools
With an analog synchronization tool, you may need to calibrate individual gauges, damp bouncing needles and visually judge small differences between readings.
Digi Sync simplifies the process with:
Digital readings — Compare numerical vacuum values instead of estimating needle positions.
No needle bounce — Digital processing provides a more stable reading than traditional mechanical gauges.
Automatic calibration — Eliminates much of the setup associated with calibrating multiple analog gauges.
Simultaneous cylinder comparison — Monitor multiple carburetors or throttle bodies at the same time.
Built-in RPM information — Digi Sync derives RPM from the intake pulses on four-stroke engines.
Compact, portable design — A self-contained digital tool replaces a larger collection of individual gauges or fluid columns.
Digi Sync's manufacturer specifically positions the system as an alternative to analog gauges because digital processing reduces the unstable readings and manual calibration common with traditional synchronization equipment.
Useful Beyond Synchronization
Digi Sync can also function as a digital vacuum gauge. Connect a single hose and the tool can provide an individual vacuum reading for diagnostic work.
Depending on the kit configuration, Digi Sync is available with multiple channels for engines requiring two, four or more vacuum readings to be compared simultaneously.
Important Compatibility Note
Digi Sync works with many motorcycles using multiple carburetors or throttle bodies with accessible vacuum ports, but it is not appropriate for every motorcycle or carburetor design.
This is especially important for BMW owners: Digi Sync specifically notes that some older carburetor designs, including Bing CV carburetors, require a different tool or setup. It is also not intended to synchronize motorcycles using only a single carburetor or single throttle body. Always verify compatibility and follow the BMW service procedure for your specific motorcycle before making adjustments.
